Kristian Birkeland lived and teached in Oslo, but often went to Tromsø as well. His Terrella Universe was stored at the Auroral Observatory for many years in the 80’s and got renovated there by the great engineer Terje Brundland.

It was then almost natural that a Planeterrella is built there. The Tromsø Planeterrella is the initiative of Åshild Fredriksen. It is on display since Fall 2016. A bit like Birkeland’s revival ! Here after is the team that built it. From left in the pictures are Yngve Eilertsen mechanics workshop, Pål Vevang, mechanics workshop, Endre Berge Dahsveen, student (who collected the bits and parts made in the workshop and bought elsewhere).
